What started as a clear question — how can we help our clients get more return from their energy? — evolved into a technological collaboration that truly makes a difference. BEE and Companion.Energy co-develop BEE HIVE: a unique flexibility concept launched by BEE. It combines an intelligent EMS system, innovative contract models, and a high-performing hardware ecosystem, enabling energy-producing companies to fully automate and optimize both their consumption and injection end-to-end.

Imbalance on the electricity grid occurs when there’s a difference between the forecasted and actual production or consumption of power. Grid operators must constantly correct this imbalance to keep the grid stable. Imbalance is typically a major cost. But for companies with flexible energy systems, it also offers opportunity: those who can smartly respond to supply and demand fluctuations can tap into imbalance markets and generate additional revenue.

Take solar energy as an example. In a market where injection value is often under pressure, BEE HIVE delivered a value of €50/MWh for solar injection in May 2025. This gain is clearly shown on BEE’s customer invoices.
