Bee keeping can be a great hobby as well as a Business and is growing in polularity in most countries. The agriculture or maintenance of bee hives by humans is known as Bee keeping. Bee keeping is done in order to collect beeswax, honey, to pollinate crops.
A bee keeper is the one who does bee keeping. Apiary is the place where bee keeping is done. Honey bees which live in large colonies are used for bee keeping. Bees are kept in artificial trees in which they stay comfortably and build up the hive.
This place is always easy to reach for the bee keeper. Italian bees are most famous and common for bee keeping. Both the natural and cultivated vegetation provides raw material to bee keeping. It is a very good source of self employment also.
Production of honey is a major industry in itself. Beekeeping also involves production of nucleus colonies, royal jelly, propolis, bee venom, bee collected pollen and bees wax. This is only possible with great skill and proper management of bees.
Utilisation of local resources, like plants and trees are also very important. Favourable climatic condition is a must for bee keeping.
Modern bee keeping makes full use of honey processing plant and bee keeping equipment, which results in high efficiency and high quality product. A water body is required where bees are kept. Bees go to the nearest water body. A strong population of bees are required for beekeeping.
Associations are formed by many expert bee keepers who share information about bee keeping. One should always buy new equipment for bee keeping business.
Old equipment may be cheaper but might be a cause of concern and might prove fatal also. For beginners, it is advised to buy new equipment with packaged bees.
One should also first learn and understand the process of bee keeping before actually starting it. Look around in your local area or become a member of a beekeeping association to gather information.
